" On the left the first house, a square and solid cottage with a touch me not appearence, surronded by grass cut painfully to the quick and an enclosed by capable iron fence some four feet high.(pg.6)" I think it reflects the Foster personality that the Fosters think everthing needs to be perfect and have to stay that way.

  2. 1) The Fosters house is the first cottage on the left side of the road that leads to Treegap. it is square, solid and has a "Touch-me-not apperence. It is "...Surrounded by grass cut painfully to the quick and enclosed by a capable iron fence some four feet high..." This quote explains what the Foster's yard looks like. The house reflects the Foster's personality because they don't want people near their house and are sour.

    2) The time of year the story takes place in is the summer. The mood is peacefull and trangquil. "... In the first week of August." "... Let us keep its peace." These quotes Explain that it's the first week of August and it is peaceful.

    3) Tuck is Mea Tuck's husband. He dreams about that they're "...All in heaven and never heard about Treegap." This quote explains Tucks dream.

The object that is special to Mea Tuck is her music box. "... A music box painted with roses and lilies of the valley. It was the one pretty thing she owned..." This quote depicts what the box looked like and why it is important to her.

Mea, Jesse and Miles Tuck kidnapped Winnie. At first she was scared but then "...Her head was fiercely calm." this shows part of how Winnie thought when they were kidnapping her. The kidnappers felt just as alarmed as Winnie did. "... Her kidnappers just as alarmed as she was herself." It depicts how the kidnappers feel.

1.The Foster’s house and yard is a cottage with a fence around it. It sounds like a typical “perfect” house to me. “At noon of the same day in the first week of August, Winnie Foster sat on the bristly grass just inside the fence and said to the large toad…”(13) In this quote it makes me have a visual image in my mind of a white picket fence home in the forest that’s picture perfect. The Foster’s seem like a typical family, which is why they would live in a typical house. In conclusion, the Foster’s yard and house seems perfect.

    2. Tuck is the father of the Tuck family. He dreams about being in heaven and never being in Treegap. “’Why’d you have to wake me up?” he sighed. “I was having that dream again, the good one where we’re all in heaven and never heard of Treegap.’” (9-10) Tuck wishes that that dream came true. I can conclude that Tuck is the father of the Tuck family and this is what he dreams about.

    3. The object that is special to Mae Tuck is her little music box because she said it’s the prettiest thing she owns. “Then she stood and took from the washstand beside the bed a little square-shaped object, a music box painted with roses and lilies of the valley. It was the one pretty thing she owned and never went anywhere without it.”(11) In the quote it shows the importance of this music box to Mae Tuck. In conclusion Mae Tuck’s music box is very special to her.

4.The Tuck family kidnaps Winnie in the book. Winnie doesn’t feel as she thought it would feel to be kidnapped. She isn’t scared. “ Winnie had often been haunted by visions of what it would be like to kidnapped. But none of her visions had been like this, with her kidnappers just as alarmed as she was herself.”(31) I think that Winnie knows the Tuck family means well and that is why she isn’t very scared. The Tuck’s feel somewhat guilty about kidnapping Winnie because they never thought that it would be a young child who would have to find out about the spring first. The Tuck family thought it would have been someone older. “’The dear Lord knows there’s been time enough to think of one, and it had to happen sooner or later. We been plain bone lucky it hasn’t before now. But I never expected it’d be a child!’”(35) In this quote Mae Tuck seems frantic that it is a child who found out first and not an adult or even teenager. In conclusion, the Tuck family kidnapped Winnie Foster because she found out about the spring in the woods.
