1. Why does Mae Tuck strike the stranger? Do you think she would have struck him if the stranger hadn't mentioned getting Winnie to drink the water?
2. Tuck (ch. 12) and Miles( ch. 17) both have discussions with Winnie.  How are the discussions both similar?

  1. 1.)She struck the stranger because she was taking Winnie away and Winnie wanted to stay with the Tucks. No because she would have stayed a child and never get to live her full life untill she drank the water.
2.)The discussions are similar because they talk about all the fish and feeding time and everything about around and in the pond.

  2. 1. I think Mae struck the stranger because she cared about WInnie and wanted there secret to be safe. " You ain't going do a thing like that do Winnie. And you ain't going to give out our secret." says Mae before she shoot him. I think she still would of struck the stranger even if he hadn't mentioned getting Winnie to drink the water because he was still going to give away there secret.

    2. There discussions are similar because they are both talking about the future and the past. The are saying the less who knows bout the spring the better. “If people knowed bout the spring down there in Treegap, they'd all come running like pigs to slops.” . Angus. “ T the few people know about the sprig the fewer there are to tell about it.” says Miles.

  4. 1. Mae Tuck shoots the stranger because he threatens and starts to take away Winnie from the Tuck family. I also think this because Mae Tuck doesn’t want Winnie to drink from the spring. Mae Tuck probably wouldn’t have shot the man in the yellow suit if he didn’t say when he got back that he was going to make Winnie drink from it and sell it to people for money. I can also infer that Mae Tuck was mad that he wanted to drink from it because her family knows how it really altars your life forever, literally.
    2. Miles and Tuck’s conversations with Winnie are alike because they both say how no one can know about the spring or that the Tuck family will live on forever. Miles is a lot like his father, unlike Jesse. Miles is seems very wise and aware of what could potentially happen if people found out about the spring, like Miles’ opinion is also.

  5. 1) Mae Tuck strikes the stranger because she doesn't want him to take Winnie and make her drink from the spring. " Not Winnie!" "You ain't going to do a thing like that to Winnie." This quote is when the stranger tells the Tucks that he will make her drink from the spring to promote the water. No, I do not think that Mae would of striked the stranger because she wouldn't have mind the stranger taking Winnie home, but when he said that he would make her drink from the spring, Mae couldn't let that happen to her, making her stay a child for the rest of her life.

  6. 2) The discussions are similar because they both talk about what they think the purpose of life is. How the wheel is to go around until it is your time to stop, and what people should be doing in the world. "But dying's part of the wheel, right there next to being born." ~ Tuck. "People got to do something useful if they're going to take up space in the world." ~Miles. These quotes don't sound the same but they have close to the same meaning. That the people in the world should find a meaning in life and that meaning should last until his wheel stops spinning.
